The Crazies does not follow the classic Hollywood narrative because at the start of the film there is a scene of a destroyed town which does not follow the normality at the beginning of a classic Hollywood narrative.

Good/Evil
Good being the people who are healthy and evil are the ones who are infected.
Calm/Chaos
When there is no infected around then the atmosphere is very calm and serene, then as soon as an infected appears everything is fast paced and everyone is rushing around with no clear plan on what to do.
Nature/Science
Science is what caused the virus outbreak due to scientists producing it and sending it to get destroyed, and nature is the healthy population which is trying to fight it off.
War/Peace
When there I peace everything in intact and everything is in order, as soon as the outbreaks starts there is destruction and building are falling apart and on fire.
The plane crashes before the film starts.
