The Woman in Black

1. Who do you think the primary and secondary target audience is for The Woman in Black? Why?
The primary audience for the Woman in Black is teens to young adults the secondary target audience would be people who are fans of Daniel Radcliffe and other famous actors in the film.
2. How was The Woman in Black marketed? (Think about genre(s), subgenre(s), media platforms, target audience, promotions, size of campaign, etc.).
The Woman in Black is a paranormal horror film which aimed their advertising through TV, Radio, Social media and posters in the streets.  The size of the campaign was big due to the large amount of money spent on advertising it. They used Daniel Radcliffe as a way of promoting the film due to his massive fan base from the Harry Potter film series. Daniel Radcliffe also advertised the film in interviews and on chat shows. The marketing campaign was big due to there being teaser trailers and posters as well as the main trailer and poster.
3. Do you think the marketing materials for the film were appropriate? Why?
The materials used were appropriate as their audience was young and they used trailers and adverts on TV, which is what teenagers and young people would do, as well as trailers being advertised online on social media websites. They also used posters which they could put up around town centers where many young people would go shopping and for other recreational activities.
4. What kind of release did the film have? (Big/small? How many cinemas showed the film on its release?)
The Woman in Black was shown on 2855 cinema screens on release, which I think would make it a big release as well as it being shown in 46 countries.

5. How much did The Woman in Black cost to make? (Production budget) AND what was the industry impact of The Woman in Black? (Think box office and trends).
$17m was the production budget and it made $127m which was mainly from the USA and UK.
6. Why do you think the film was so successful? (You must come up with at least two reasons).
The film was successful as it made $127m which is almost 10 times the production budget, and the film was also screened all over the world with massive publicity. The film also advertises the stage production of the film which is increased success.
